I have been told by multiple people over the past 2 weeks that I am crazy, nuts, and possibly certifiably insane. If you know me well, then you know this is partially true. The reason for these recent accusations is because of the obstacle race and half marathon I completed on back to back weekends over the last 2 weeks.

I had so much fun at the Spartan race, the next day I signed up for the Dirty Girl Mud Run in April, The Warrior Dash in May, and the Augusta Half Ironman in September. So now, you may join the others and ask, "Sheryl, are you crazy?" The answer is yes! Many people have asked me why I signed up for the half ironman. The answer: "why not?"
Here comes the insane part. The half ironman consists of a 1.2 mile swim in the lovely Savannah River, a 56 mile hilly bike ride through South Carolina, and a half marathon (13.1 miles) in downtown Augusta. All of that totals 70.3 miles and I am supposed to do it in one day!
I have created The Iron Shecky Blog to document my training efforts over the next 6 months as well as to hold myself accountable. I have a bad habit of not training for races (including all 3 half marathons I have run.) If I don't train for this race, I will be miserable. Sharing this process will hold me to my training plan.
Here's to the next 6 months of pain, sweat, and tears.
